GOLDEN SPIKE SNOWMOBILE ASSOCIATION
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I
-
OFFICERS
1. Club officers shall be elected as follows: President, Vice President,
Secretary/ Flurry Editor, Treasurer, Historian,
and
USA Club Representative. Elections shall
be held yearly. Each term will be for one year.
2. Selection of officers will be voted on by paid up members only, at the last
scheduled meeting of the season. One month before the last meeting, a nominating
committee of three members shall be selected by the Club officers. Nominations
will also be received from the floor.
3. All officers shall take office immediately after the closing social and hold
office for one year or until their successor shall have been elected and
qualified. In case vacancies of the Club officers occur, by reason of death,
resignation, or otherwise, the remaining officers may by majority vote elect a
successor to the unexpired term.
4. The President shall preside at all Club meetings and appoint necessary
committees as authorized by the Club officers. He shall be a member ex-officio
of all committees and shall carry on those other responsibilities assigned to
him by the By-Laws and the Club officers.
5.
The Vice Presidents, during the absence or temporary incapacity of the
President, shall perform the duties and assume the responsibilities of the
President. The Vice President is also in charge of the committees.
6. The Secretary! Flurry Editor shall keep all of the Club’s records, including
minutes of meetings, roster of members, lists of committees and their members,
shall send out notices of meetings (with the assistance of assigned Club
members), and discharge all of the usual secretarial functions of the office
required by the By-Laws or the Club officers. A Secretary’s report shall be
prepared and read (subject to audit by the Club officers) at the last scheduled
meeting of each season, formerly known as the Closing Social. The
Secretary/Flurry Editor shall be responsible for the monthly newsletters,
gathering information, compiling the newsletter, shall be responsible for
mailing out notices and any other duties appointed by the Secretary.
7. The Treasurer shall keep all of the Club’s financial records, receive
applications for membership, maintain Club accounts and have charge of Club
funds. The Treasurer shall also discharge all of the usual Treasurer functions
of the office required by the By-Laws or the Club officers. The Club’s funds
will be kept in a bank approved by the Club officers and in the name of the
Club. Funds can only be withdrawn by check and shall require one of two
authorized signatures: the Club Treasurer, Secretary, President or Vice
Presidents, as per Article I,

above. The Treasurer shall disburse the funds of the Club
under the direction of the Club officers. A Treasurer’s report shall be prepared
and read (subject to annual audit by the Club officers) at the last scheduled
meeting of each season, formerly known as the Closing Social. The Treasurer
shall maintain a current financial report, subject to review at any time.
8. Board Members: The Board Members of the Club will include President, Vice
President, USA Club Representative, Treasurer, and Secretary! Flurry Editor and
Historian. Each member of the board, upon election, or upon appointment by the
President and approved by the Board, shall be awarded one vote.
9. The Historian will take photos, compile the Club history, and assist the
Secretary in keeping Club records and any other duties appointed by the
Secretary.
ARTICLE
II -
DUES
1. The amount of the dues
and
the time for their payment
shall be determined as required by the Club
officers.
2. Club dues shall
include decals and
pennant flags when
available. Additional decals can be purchased from the Club.
ARTICLE III-
MEMBERSHIP
1. Membership
application forms
shall be in
writing and
delivered to the
Secretary
or
Treasurer
of the Club. Each paid
member is allowed one votes.
2. A member may resign
from
the Club at
any time
upon written
notice
to the
Secretary.
Termination of the
membership does not entitle
member
to a refund of
dues and
is responsible to
pay any outstanding money owed to Club.
3. Membership in the Club may be terminated
for
non-payment of dues or by
majority vote of the officers for reasons
deemed
to be prejudicial to the
best
interests of
the Club.
4. All
members
under
the age of 18 years old
must
ride with their
parent
or legal
guardian
ARTICLE TV -
MEETINGS
1. Club meetings for the
year
shall consist of one
meeting per
month
during
the snowmobile season
(September through
— May). They shall
consist of club
business, movies (as
available), lectures,
and
other topics of
interest
to the Club membership.
2. Club meeting
nights and location
shall be selected
and voted on by Club
members for the
time
most
suitable and convenient
for
the majority of the
membership.
3. Any special
meeting deemed
necessary for the
benefit of the Club
shall be designated and
scheduled
by the Club officers.
4. Guests and potential
members
shall be permitted at the
meetings and
organized Club
functions.
5. All paid up
members shall be notified by mail
(Flurry)
or telephone prior to each
meeting.
ARTICLE V ACCEPTANCE OF THE BY-LAWS
1. All above By-Laws
are
subject to change or
amendment
by the officers
and
members of the Club. After
the first reading, each section in question
shall
be
discussed separately. Upon completion, the move shall be made
that
the
entire
list of By-Laws is amended
by proper vote, be approved. After due
second,
the By-
Laws in their
entirety shall be
voted on for
acceptance by the
By-Laws of the Golden Spike Snowmobile Association.
2. A copy
of
the
By-Laws shall be available
to each paid up membership.
